The Landscape
Torre Barbieri is located on the foothills of the province of Parma, near the old village of Neviano degli Arduini, among medieval towns and castles typical of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines landscape. This territory between the streams Enza and Parmossa, is crossed by the Val Toccana and the Valleys of Torre and Termina di Castione.
The first settlements in the area date back to the year 1000, while the tower as it is visible today had its first configuration/appearance around 1400. It aimed to be a comfortable abode provided with defensive elements. The structure was almost entirely made of different types of stone, typical of the area, with great attention to details. The rural architecture of the building is still fully appreciable. Renovated with the utmost care and respect for its origins, the Tower today embodies a complete fusion between past and present; it is a lovely home , ” buen retiro ” for the two owners.
